Perfect representation of Halloween Peanut butter Taffy

Posted by Mindfloodz on 14th Jun 2022

If you've ever went trick or treating as a child and had those little dry peanut butter taffy candies wrapped in a black or orange paper wrapper, this is that flavor. Wonder Flavours did a great job recreating this profile in a concentrated form. Although this was never one of my favorite candies, it is much more pleasing in concentrate form. I would actually throw those away with the Smarties and most the suckers that tasted like trash. With that being said, I do actually like this flavoring a lot. It has promise for more than just a peanut butter taffy flavor which I'll go further into later in the review. This flavoring has a fairly dry peanut butter note that has a creamy body that I believe is coming from the taffy. Its not a dark or roasted peanut butter note, but very much in line with the peanut butter flavor in those Halloween candies. The dryness I get from this on the exhale only adds to the authenticity of the flavor profile as I have always found them a bit dry and was the primary reason I didn't eat them. In concentrate form this is actually much more pleasing for me though. If you love those Halloween taffys you'll love this for sure! If you hate them, you might actually like this as I do. It could still be a very useful additive with other peanut butters in a recipe. This is not an in your face peanut butter flavor like the TFA Peanut Butters or the SSA Peanut butter. Its much lighter at 5% by comparison than any of those. If you just wanted a light peanut butter in a recipe, this would be perfect as a background note. I could see a great peanut butter trinity coming out of using this flavoring in conjunction with TFA and SSA peanut butters.

    Taffy Peanut Butter

Sft at 3% and it reminded me right away of natural pb. Just salt and peanuts. Smashed into a creamy pb...I don't get the taffy part .. But I get a light cream type mixed in with the pb. Maybe that's the Taffy part I'm tasting. (I might be broke) lol..Either way I love this flavor alot.. Some people have said they get a peanut skin taste , but I don't, just a tasty pb/&cream at 3%. I'm happy with it at 3 and wouldn't go higher. This a a keeper for me.

A very unique pairing of a sweet, creamy PB and Taffy

**Taffy (Peanut Butter) (WF) 3.5% (4-15-22)** -- I was originally a little SCARED of this one, as PB in Taffy ??? !!!! BUT, I do it for YOU GUYS, and @Lynda_Marie. :) OK, even though I hard feared loading this into the tank, when I smelled it, most of my fears were alleviated, BUT, as they say, it isn't over, until it's over. What in the HELL is a Taffy-ed Peanut Butter ? Well, it was actually quite good. Having had many bad PB's before, that added to my initial distrust, but this PB was nice, rich, and creamy, and my fears quickly abated. It was "kinda" like CAP's PB, in that it was sweeter, and creamier, BUT, tempered with taffy-like candy, that had some almost toffee notes to it. NOT a toffee, but with toffee NOTES in it. The ratio was close to 60% taffy, and 40% PB. The very end of the finish almost had a hint of a brule or burnt sugar to it, and it gave it a nice KICK at the end. Now the taffy part was a little harder to quantify. If WF had simply added creams or sweeteners, this would have been a "sweet PB", or a "creamy PB" but there was SOMETHING, that did really convey a taffy-ness to this one. When paired with the fairly natural PB, it was actually a rather NEAT combination. It was a few ticks above mid level sweet, but not in an overpowering way. Nothing off-putting or out of place at this percentage, and the only "twanger" was the slight burnt sugar /brule note, but I think it actually added to the overall flavor. I can safely say, I have NO flavors like this on my racks, and that's hard to do. All in, it was indeed a convincing Taffy PB / PB Taffy, and it actually did it VERY well. If you've got room, you probably don't have one like this either. Plus plussed at **9.5/10**.

    Taffy (Peanut Butter)

I tested this at 1.5% steeped for 5 days. There is definitely a candy aspect, a softer taffy, not like salt water taffy or the kind of taffy wrapped in paper. The texture is smooth. I got taffy in the beginning, and the peanut butter halfway through, but at the very end I got a peanut skin type note. It’s not a terrible flavor, but I’m hoping that skin note will be hidden in a mix. It’s not an in your face skin note, it’s rather subdued, but it’s there, for me at least. I was hoping this would be a candy peanut butter all the way through. I’m not sure what I’ll use this for. I’m thinking cookies. I’m note sure where else this would make sense. Maybe jelly or jam? Anyhow, it’s not a bad flavor, and taste is subjective. It’s just ok for me.
