    Crispy Doughnut

Posted by Lynda Pyne on 17th Nov 2022

Doughnut crispy FA This is a cake doughnut. No glaze. It’s not a yeast doughnut. It’s fluffy, I don’t get crispy really, no real greasy texture /notes to get a crisp. But it’s smooth cake. I’m not getting cinnamon, or anything, maybe a light vanilla? But almost undetectable. You could pull this in a cake direction or make it a donut. It’s definitely not undercooked, but some how the crispy is there in the mouthfeel. Absolutely no off notes. Add a filling, a glaze,. This is useful and I can’t believe I haven’t tried This sooner. I’ve had it for several months. Useful and any bakery mixer needs this in their stash! Pleasant cake flavor.

    Damn tasty

The only accurate donut flavor I've found so far. Excellent neutral frosted pastry flavor, easy to mix in just about anything else - chocolate, fruits, etc.

    FA Doughnut Crispy

I am seriously disappointed in this flavor. As the other reviewer mentioned, it is similar to Cap Glazed Doughnut, it has that same Play Doh taste to it, so for me this flavor is terrible.

The donut I've been searching for...

Posted by Justin Franks on 6th Aug 2022

I've finally found the donut flavor I've been searching for. I've tried every donut flavoring I could find, but never could track something down that was better than a mix of CAP Glazed Doughnut and FA Zeppola. This has a somewhat close flavor profile to CAP Glazed Doughnut, so if you are one of the unlucky people that find the "Play-Doh" flavor there, this might not be for you. I can't say for sure, since CAP Glazed Doughnut is delicious to me, so I'm not able to pick out that particular "off" flavor from it in order to gauge its presence here. I get a very rich and dense sweet dough with a touch of glaze on the inhale. Then on the exhale, the glaze comes more forward, along with a hint of cinnamon sugar. The "crispy / fried" flavor is also present throughout, but it is in the background. A small amount of WF Deep Fried Pastry Dough boosts this quite nicely if the recipe calls for it. Despite the label image, I don't get any frosting here. It's all glaze. But the various frostings and creams I've tried have worked well, with equal small amounts of WF Buttercream Frosting, TPA Cheesecake Graham Crust, and TPA Whipped Cream being my favorite combo. This is a reasonably potent flavoring, and I rarely go above 2% with it.
