    SSA Dark Blackberry

Posted by Serena Sullivan on 5th Sep 2022

Unfortunately I have to agree with the other reviewer who stated this off-putting flavor has a scent not unlike grandmother's perfume. Fortunately my grandmothers' didn't wear perfume but I'd have to assume that it wouldn't be good if they had - and this aroma (?) isn't good either. It belongs in the rank file of the flavor cemetary with other bottles that I will never use. Thank goodness I only bought a 10 mL bottle despite my Blackberry phase which I'm still playing now.. This flavor reminds me of Boysenberry (TPA), or Blackberry (FA). Try the Natural Blackberry (FW) or Flavorah has a decent offering as well. There are others out there, so don't give up!

Even at a 0.25% reduction, was getting floral lavender ?

Posted by SessionDrummer on 13th Nov 2021

**Dark Blackberry (SSA) 0.5% (10-31-21)** -- WHEW, this one got away from me in a HURRY. When smelling these prior to testing I could tell this one was going to get squirrely, and decided to mix it @ 0.5%, and even at that rate, I was getting an almost lavender soap ?? !!! Rinsed, flushed, diluted to 0.25%, and about the same effect. Sorry guys, I was looking for a dark, tart blackberry, but instead I was greeted with a lovely shade of Lavender Soap. If you DID wish to attempt to use this one, you may have to go even lower than 0.25%, but at my final reduction, it did not feel over flavored, or ceiling smashing. You were forewarned. Sadly, this one will ride the **1/10**.

This is incredibly potent and simply amazing

For anyone that thinks this tastes like perfume you are using it way to high. Nearly all of the blackberry flavorings out there have a definite perfuminess to them but most lack any of the rich body and mild funk that is present in an actual wild blackberry. In this you can taste the fuzzy little hairs and some of the stem it's delicious and tastes like summer! This one is absolutely one of the best I've ever tried but you have to use it really really low and it will balance out. When I say low I'm talking 1.5 to 2 drops in a 60ml or all you will get is perfume. Used at 0.06-0.1%. With flavorings like this it's sometimes easier to dilute it into PG by a 10:1 ratio PG to Flavoring so it's more useable. I like to pair it with small amounts of other berries like strawberry and raspberry, just enough to fill out some of the juiciness. Don't be afraid, give it a try at much less than you think will work and it will blow you away.

    Straight Perfume

I tried this at 3%, so that may have been too high. However, it gave the most overwhelming taste of my grandmother's perfume I've ever experienced. It clings to the coils as well. I'm going to try this at far lower concentrations. There is a pleasant, very accurate blackberry in there. It is unfortunately completely covered by the straight floral perfume. It's like using a flowery breath spray that hits the back of the throat. Very off putting and slight chemical note. Cannot recommend this flavor. I'll report again after testing it at .25%/.5%/1% and see if the perfume Ilis still there. I have no doubt it will still be there, but <3% may allow it to steep out or be covered by something else in the same mix.
